Egypt beat Venezuela 3-2 (25-21, 22-25, 20-25, 25-19, 15-11) - duration 1:45
23-Aug, start time: 8:00 - Attendance: 200
Egypt coach, Sherif Elshemerly: The match was very tough because we had no information about our opponent before the game. We played against many teams from Europe and Asia before but we didn't face the South American school. We are very happy to win our first match because Venezuela played very well and I expect that Pool A will be the strongest group.
Ahmen Salah, Egyptian team captain: It was a hard game because Venezuela was a good team; so we did our best in five sets to achieve our first win.
Venezuela coach, Miguel Cambero: We reached Iran very late because of flight problems and we haven't enough time to train and rest. The match was very critical for qualification to the second round and we lost an important step, but we will try in the coming matches. Ahmen Salah of Egypt was the star of the match.
Venezuela captain, Enderwuin Herrera: Congratulations to Egypt as they played well and succeeded to catch the match in the tiebreak. We will do our best in our two next matches in the pool.
