Egypt Team
Profile

Egypt signaled their intention
right from the start and have been involved in an extensive
build up programme to the U21 Junior Boys’ World Championship
since June which saw the start of an 11-day training camp in
Cairo.
Since then, the Egyptian U21 team participated in a four-nation
tournament in Greece with the hosts, Holland and Romania before
touring Russia with big guns Brazil and Poland for another dress
rehearsal for the World Championship.
Egypt then left for Poland for a three-match series from August
5-13 and after losing the first match 3-2 Egypt went on to win
the remaining two matches 3-2.
A good build up and one coach Sherif El-Shemerly looks to be
happy with. A number of his players were part of the side which
finished fourth at the 2001 Boy’s Junior World Championship in
Egypt so El-Shemerly has plenty of talent to work with.
Egypt will ply in Group A with Iran, Venezuela and South Korea.
