Dominican coach says win over Thailand tough despite score

Dominican players celebrate after the victory over Thailand on Tuesday

Nagoya, Japan, November 12, 2013 - Dominican coach Marcos Kwiek was happy after the victory over Thailand but admitted it was not as easy as the score may suggest and his team had to battle hard to prevail.

Dominican Republic coach - Marcos Kwiek: We are happy to get the win. This was a tough match even though we won 3-0. They are well coached and were prepared to play us. We will play every game like it is the final. We had to really concentrate the entire match.

Thailand coach - Kittiapong Radchatagrienkai: This was a learning experience for us. We are not so happy with out play today. We will try to identify our mistakes and work on them. We will strive to do better.

Dominican captain - Bethania De La Cruz: We are very happy with the victory in the first match of the tournament. We served and received well today. I thought Thailand had good combination play. We will play Russia tomorrow. The strategy will be different. They are a bigger team.

Thailand captain - Wilavan Apinyapong: My performance was not so good. We missed a lot of chances to get points. We hope to play better the next game. We have to cut down on our mistakes.

Thailand player - Sittirak Onuma: We didn't play so well. We made too many errors. We really wanted to play better than this.
