FIVB Volleyball Girls' U18 World Championship

Japan welcomes back fivb women's world grand champions cup

From November 12 to 17, 2013, Japan is the proud host of the FIVB Volleyball Women's World Grand Champions Cup, which will take place at Nagoya Nippongaishi Hall and Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium.

Japan has hosted every edition of the FIVB Volleyball Men's World Grand Champions Cup, which is held every four years, since its inception in 1993.

The FIVB Volleyball World Grand Champions Cup features a total of six teams per gender, with the hosts Japan being joined by the continental winners from Asia, Europe, NORCECA and South America, along with an additional country selected by the FIVB. Africa do not have an automatic spot in the tournament after finishing the 2012 Olympic Games as the lowest ranked confederation amongst the five.

Unlike the men's competition, the FIVB Volleyball Women's World Grand Champions Cup has had a different winner for each of its five previous editions with Cuba, Russia, China, Brazil all claiming the title before
Italy were victorious in 2009.
