The FIVB is concerned about National Federation (NF) needs and
requirements and as such implements development programs worldwide
across a broad spectrum of responsibilities. These
include accreditation courses for coaches, players, teachers,
referees, grass roots beach volleyball , training seminars, school
programs and management seminars for volleyball
administrators. As well as Sports Aid Programs (SAP) and the
establishment of Development Centres internationally.
The programs are designed to accredit, educate and improve the
overall standard of performance throughout the world in the sport
of Volleyball and, more specifically, to create the conditions
under which each country, given its resources, is able to express
its potential in competition and derive the maximum benefit
possible from our sport.
Through development programmes, creative instruction is favoured
that teaches participants to use the conditions they find in their
respective countries, with ingenuity and imagination. Apart from
teaching units concerning theory, practice and the methodology of
the game, lessons are offered which give ideas regarding
popularity, structure and organisation for the area within the
Federations.
A
key role of the FIVB Development Department is the
establishment of Development Centres internationally.
Development Centres intensify international cooperation in
Volleyball and Beach Volleyball, improve the professional
level and performance of these two disciplines, as well as
the technical and administrative structures of Volleyball
Associations in the surrounding countries.
This
is done by conducting clinics, courses and studies for
management, referees and coaches in accordance with programmes
approved by the FIVB and provides informative instructions
and guidance to players.
Development
Centres are currently established in four Continents and
eight countries, being Africa (Sudan, Tunisia and Senegal),
South America (Venezuela), Asia (India, Thailand, Bahrain)
and NORCECA (Dominican Republic).
