A
key role of the FIVB Development Department is the
establishment of Development Centres internationally.
Within the vicinity of their geographical area, Development
Centres intensify international cooperation in
Volleyball and Beach Volleyball, improve the professional
level and performance of these two disciplines, as well as
the technical and administrative structures of Volleyball
Associations in the surrounding countries.
This
is done by conducting clinics, courses and studies for
management, referees and coaches in accordance with
other programmes
approved by the FIVB and by providing informative instructions
and guidance to players, teachers,
coaches, referees and all other members of the Volleyball family.
Development Centres are currently established in four Continents and
eight countries, being Africa (Sudan, Tunisia and Senegal),
South America (Venezuela), Asia (India, Thailand, Bahrain)
and NORCECA (Dominican Republic). A new
Development Centre will open in January 2006 in Barbados. This
Centre will be providing assistance and resources to the
English-speaking Islands part of the NORCECA Confederation.
Click on the country for information about each
Centre.
