FIVB Development Centres
Sudan

The Sudan Development Centre in Khartoum was established in 1989 and serves nine countries in East and Central Africa. These include, the African Zone 5 countries: Comoros, Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda. The centre has been hugely successful in improving the level of playing in the region, increasing the number of qualified officials and helping Volleyball in Sudan to reach the World Youth Championships.

The Centre benefits from an outdoor and an indoor court along with technical, sports and education materials. Each year, the centre hold international courses, sponsored by the FIVB, for coaches, referees, management personals and others. Other national courses are held every few years including technical courses for coaches and players, Beach Volleyball courses, management courses and seminars on sports media, players’ injuries, as well as instruction for school teachers.

These courses are generating a great awareness for Volleyball in the region. They are aimed at increasing the number of people practicing the game and make Volleyball the most popular sport in the region.
