Selling England by the pound

LOCOG website host a special page to buy memorabilia through an Internet bid

London, Great Britain, August 2, 2012 – LOCOG, the organizing committee of the Olympic Games, is showing lots of ideas about how to adapt the event budget in a moment of global economic crisis. Not only cutting useless costs, but even raising revenues.

The idea of an auction of collectables is among this. So don’t be surprised if you’re now able to buy through internet for the first time ever the original score sheet of a volleyball match, signed by the FIVB Control Committee members. Everything is possible by clicking on the dedicated page of LOCOG website (,default,sc.html) where during the Olympics you can bid for the ball of a particular match or try to give the best offer for an original Olympic torch.

The first balls used by Team GB here at Earls Court are being sold for over 200.00 pounds, while in beach volleyball the ball which will be used for the women’s gold medal match is already set to cost over 300.00 pounds, due to the competition among fans with their mouse click.

Volleyball fans all over the word can still buy the net of the men’s gold medal game, which will be one of the last events of the entire Olympic Games. Still 11 days to bid with the actual price now quite affordable. Don’t wait the hits of a wooden hammer to close the bids: this time the auctioneer is a computer.
