London is the UK's biggest city with a population of 7.5 million and
lies on the River Thames in the south of the country.
The Romans were the first settlers in London just after the turn of the first centruy and since then the city has grown further, particularly in the last few hundred years when it became the industrial heartland of the UK.
However since then London has become more famous for its tourism. Famous for landmarks such as the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben and The London Eye it is a popular favourite for travellers and areas such as Oxford Circus and Trafalgar Square are often busy with tourists.
The Olympic Village will be in the east of the city in Stratford, approximately 10 minutes to the center of town via the famous London Underground.

Earls Court is located in west London, close to the Science and Natural History Museums as well as the Notting Hill and Chelsea boroughs.
Earls Court hosts around 150 events a year and 1.4 million visitors. The venue prides itself on providing versatile space for exhibitions, conferences and live events for music, entertainment and corporate events.

15,000-seat arena for the 16-day Olympic Volleyball competition.
