FIVB President attends the CAVB Board of Administration meeting

FIVB President Dr Ary S. Graça F° yesterday attended the CAVB Board of Administration meeting via videoconference to discuss the upcoming CAVB Elective Congress.

In his welcome remarks, the FIVB President said:

“The FIVB has always supported Africa and its National Federations. In 2018 and 2019, through the FIVB Projects Platform, the FIVB approved a total of 56 projects for Africa out of 58 applications. This is a huge approval rate of 96.6 per cent. 24 out of 24 projects were approved in 2018, and 32 of 34 in 2019. This support amounted to 2.1 million USD invested into volleyball in Africa directly through National Federations.”

The CAVB Board of Administration meeting was held via videoconference

In addition, the FIVB President urged the Continental Confederation to consider the current global situation when deciding how and where to host the CAVB Congress, stating:

“As you move closer to your elections, it is essential to understand and consider how this may work in the context of a global pandemic. The health and wellbeing of the African Volleyball Family and its members must be your top priority. We must listen to the African National Federations, to their worries and concerns.”

Following the decision of the CAVB Board of Administration, the CAVB Elective Congress will be held virtually on 24-25 October 2020.
