Vicente Araújo inaugurated as Portuguese Volleyball Federation President

Vicente Araújo was yesterday inaugurated for his fifth term as President of the Portuguese Volleyball Federation (FPV), following his election on 6 June 2020.

Araújo was first elected President of the FPV in 1996, a position which he held until 2016, and for the past four years he has served as the organisation’s Executive Vice-President.

During his inauguration ceremony at the FVP Headquarters, which took place with the necessary health measures in place, Araújo addressed the challenges ahead and how the Volleyball Family must face them united:

“We propose, in this difficult and unparalleled moment, to face this new era of responsibility by combining effectiveness with values and efficiency with success. It is with all those who feel and live volleyball that my team and I are fully convinced that we will be able to overcome the crisis. I am sure that we will come out of it stronger and with a sport that everyone can be proud of and of which everyone, without exception, will be an integral part of, because together we will build the future of volleyball.”

In addition to his tireless efforts to promote volleyball across Portugal, Araújo is also the President of the FIVB Beach Volleyball Commission and a member of the Beach Volleyball World Tour Council. An invaluable member of the Volleyball Family, he was also responsible for organising the 2004 FIVB World Congress in Porto, Portugal, as well as several qualifying events for the World and European Championships.
