FIVB President discusses future of volleyball with Dentsu

Tokyo, Japan, September 29, 2019 – Addressing the Dentsu leadership and more than 100 Dentsu account handlers who work day by day with key company clients taking care of their advertising promotion budgets and offering sponsorship packages, FIVB President Dr. Ary S. Graça F° delivered a speech on the FIVB’s plans for the future of volleyball. The presentation took place this week at the striking Dentsu Building, located in the Shiodome area of Minato, Tokyo.

President Ary Graça spoke at length about the tremendous successes of the innovative Volleyball Nations League (VNL) and in particular about the FIVB’s focus on fan engagement and entertainment.

“Volleyball is no longer simply a game. There is now a clear narrative at every major FIVB event, focused on engaging the fans,” he said. “Ours is a truly unique approach where we invite fans to be part of the show. This is how we captivate our audience, not only those in the stadium but across the world watching on television or through Volleyball TV.”

President Ary Graça also talked about the ever-increasingly competitive marketplace for fans’ attention. The FIVB’s solution is to ensure its key differentials: inclusivity, innovation and entertainment means that volleyball stands apart from other activities.

“Volleyball is a true family sport, a game for everybody, no matter your race, gender, ethnicity, class or age,” the FIVB President said. “We are already the world’s second most popular sport according to the Nielsen report, and with our focus on innovation and carefully developed strategic partnerships with key stakeholders, like our friends at Dentsu, there is no limit to the growth of volleyball as a global sport.”

President Graça also spoke of the importance of Asia as a key volleyball market.

“Asia is currently our primary focus and we are working hard to ensure our presence and relevance in various markets throughout the continent. Opportunities are available to host major upcoming events for volleyball and beach volleyball and we are very interested in bringing these to Asia.

Attendees received the speech with great interest, while the Dentsu leadership team confirmed the mutual interest in a strong collaboration between the two organisations.
