Kolakovic: We showed patience in the end

Saint Petersburg, Russia, August 10, 2019 - Iran beat Mexico in straight sets in the second game of the Olympic Qualification tournament. Igor Kolakovic changed his roster a lot and his team had some problems in a very close third set.

Jorge Azair, Mexico head coach: I can't feel happy with the result, of course, but I liked the attitude my team showed tonight. I'm satisfied with the way we acted in difficult situations. I liked the speed with which we moved and spiked, so I can say I'm more calm for our progress now. We are moving in the right direction.

Pedro Rangel, Mexico captain: I think we played better than yesterday, and what is really important – we get more and more experienced. Probably this is the main result for our team on this tournament still. Maybe we will be able to show even a better performance tomorrow.

Aliasghar Mojarad, Iran middle blocker: Our opponents from Mexico probably don't have that high quality but still they played volleyball with great passion. That's why the third set was so difficult today. I'm happy we managed to finish this one in three sets. Will have a big challenge tomorrow and will do our best to qualify to the Olympics.

Igor Kolakovic, Iran head coach: Mexico took a lot of risk with their service and also we saw some amazing attempts in defense. But I feel satisfied as this time I could change my roster, give some practice to our less experienced players and give a rest to the others, including Marouf. In the end we showed patience and that is what I liked best.
