Volleyball at schools project gets underway in Russia

 
St. Petersburg, Russia, November 15, 2018 - Children at schools and orphanages will get an opportunity to meet some true volleyball legends as the Volleyball in Schools project gets underway in Russia.

The Russian federation's project aims to familiarise children with volleyball and spread the Olympic values of excellence, friendship and respect. Children will meet Olympic champions, players and coaches and be encouraged to participate in friendly matches and other activities.

In the first stage of the project, children at the Pierre de Coubertin school in St. Petersburg were introduced to Olympic medallists including Sergey Tetyukhin, Alexander Volkov, Taras Htey and Vyacheslav Zaitsev. Russia and France Federation officials were also joined at the event by Sylvie Bermann, Ambassador of France in Russia.

In Russia sport has always been a key component of education. And the school in St. Petersburg was specially decorated with honorary diplomas autographed by the Olympic volleyball greats participating in the project to celebrate the event.
