FIVB President guest of honour at General Assembly of Lega Pallavolo Serie A Femminile

 
Milan, Italy, 28 September, 2018 - FIVB President Ary Graça attended the General Assembly of the Lega Pallavolo Serie A Femminile this Tuesday, alongside the FIVB 2nd Executive Vice-President and CEV President Aleksandar Boricic, FIVB Board of Administration member and CEV Vice-President Renato Arena and FIPAV President Bruno Cattaneo.
 
The General Assembly brought together representatives from all the female volleyball clubs in the A1 and A2 divisions, as well as the league’s Board of Directors. During the meeting representatives discussed the most important topics in women’s volleyball and continued to encourage positive collaboration in Italian volleyball.

The FIVB President delivered the keynote address and spoke about the importance of continuing to grow the sport throughout Italy and on a global scale. He also reiterated the FIVB’s commitment to sports innovation and fan engagement to ensure the very best athlete and fan experience at every match.

During the meeting, Lega Pallavolo Serie A Femminile President Mauro Fabris also gave a presentation based on recent data collected which indicated positive growth of volleyball participation throughout Italy. Reports on the technical and socio-economic status of volleyball in Italy also delivered positive results. The meeting presented another opportunity for officials to discuss the league calendar, taking into account international fixtures. After the General Assembly finished, the FIVB President spent time speaking with the media about the development of volleyball, both in Italy and across the world.

“Volleyball continues to grow throughout Italy, and we are seeing that in both the women’s and the men’s game,” President Ary Graça said. “Over the past two weeks we have seen enthusiasm for volleyball in Italy reach new heights, and we must now take advantage of that.”

The General Assembly provided an extraordinary opportunity for discussion at a time when the eyes of the volleyball world are focused on Italy. The 2018 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship concludes this weekend, with the final six teams travelling to Turin for a chance to win one of the sports’ biggest prizes.
