Gorky Park ready for Moscow World Tour event

 
Moscow, Russia, August 2, 2018 -  The 2017/2018 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour stops in Moscow next week from August 7 to 12 for a 4-star double gender event to be held at Gorky Park. The event was presented to members of the press at the Russia Today press centre on Thursday.


Volleyball Federation of Russia President and CEV Vi?e-President Stanislav Shevchenko said: “This tournament is very popular among players and volleyball fans. But we will organize it in the Gorky Park for the first time. This is a very symbolic place for Moscow and for Russia. I would like to thank the Government of Moscow and the administration of the Gorky Park for the excellent possibility to organize such a prestigious event in the centre of Moscow. For Russian players this event will be a priority and I hope that they can achieve the best results.”


The 2017 Moscow podium, including men's silver medallists Viacheslav Krasilnikov/Nikita Liamin and bronze medallists Oleg Stoyanovskiy/Artem Yarzutkin from Russia either side of gold medallists Phil Dalhausser/Nick Lucena of the United States.

Head of Moscow's Sports Events Department, Alexander Polinskiy said: “We will organize this tournament to a very high level; players and fans will be satisfied. We are finishing the construction of the Central Court and tribunes for the spectators.”

Russian national team player Olga Motric said: “I prepared for the whole season with the greatest desire to play this tournament but unfortunately I am injured and I cannot play now. But I will support my teammates who will play at home with the backing of the local fans. I think that we have good chances to win medals and the Gorky Park is a new location for beach volleyball. Welcome to the tournament.”

Coach Yaroslav Koshkarev said: “I have just finished my career as a player and I will start to work with junior teams and with teams who will play here in Moscow. Such events are a big adventure for players and coaches. It is so wonderful when you play in Russia with the support of local fans. I am sure that the Russian Men’s teams will do well because they show stable, good results.”
