Argentina to host second leg of South American Beach Volleyball Circuit

The champions of the 1st continental stage in Nova Viçosa, Brazil, the local pair Nicolas Capogrosso (Santa Fe) and Julian Azaad (Entre Rios)
Rosario, Argentina, February 3, 2017 – The Argentina Volleyball Federation (FeVA) presented the South American Beach Volleyball Grand Slam, which will be hosted for the second time in the city of Rosario from February 9 to 11 at the Balneario La Florida.

The tournament is the second stop in the South American Circuit, which opened in the Brazilian city of Nova Vicosa, Bahia last month.

The double-gender tournament brings together 12 men’s and 12 women’s pairs, including the winners of the first leg Nicolas Capogrosso and Julian Azaad, and two-time Olympian Ana Gallay.

“This city is very happy with the challenge of hosting big events so that big stars will participate and help us make Rosario a city of sport,” City mayor Monica Fein said.

“We couldn’t take this on without the support of the government of Santa Fe. The collaboration between municipality and province allows us to host these tournaments. Rosario has a very rich history and local federations that have allowed us to make these important steps to host this South American Beach Volleyball Grand Slam.”

“Santa Fe puts sports as a priority by allocating resources and devising policies that establish its foundation in anticipation of the province’s sporting status in the next decade,” Governor of the province Miguel Lifsschitz said.

“We understand that sport is one of the tools the government should include to promote economic activity and employment, increase visibility of the city, province and country, as well as encourage young people to participate in sport.”
