World Grand Champions Cup: Brazil defeat Russia 3-1

 
Brazil defeated Russia in the opening match of the 2017 FIVB Volleyball World Grand Champions Cup
Tokyo, Japan, September 5, 2017 - Defending champions Brazil defeated Russia 3-1 (25-17, 23-25, 25-23, 25-12) in the opening match of the FIVB Volleyball Women's World Grand Champions Cup.

Brazil's fourth encounter with Russia at the World Grand Champions Cup ended with a victory, which allowed them to level with two wins and two losses against their European rivals. Brazil's women's team won the World Grand Champions Cup in 2013 and 2005. Their opponents Russia were victorious in 1997.

The six teams participating in the Women's World Grand Champions will play each other in a round-robin tournament from September 5 to 10. The matches on Tuesday and Wednesday will take place in Tokyo. Nagoya will host the matches on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
