Serbia v Germany and Russia v Belgium in EuroVolley semis

Belgium defeated Italy in three sets in the EuroVolley quarterfinals
Katowice and Krakow, Poland, August 31, 2017 -  Belgium progressed to the semifinals of a European Championship for the first time on Thursday evening after defeating Italy 3-0 (25-21, 25-11, 25-23) in the quarterfinals of LOTTO EUROVOLLEY POLAND 2017 in Katowice. Coach Vital Heynen's Belgium squad will take on Russia in the semifinals to be played on Saturday.

Belgium's oppenents in the next round qualified after cruising past Slovenia 3-0 (25-17, 25-19, 25-19) in a quarterfinal in Krakow. For Russia it was a repeat result of their meeting with Slovenia in the pool phase when they were also 3-0 winners against the 2015 silver medallists.

Also in Krakow, Serbia defeated Bulgaria 3-0 (25-21, 25-22, 28-26) to set up a semifinal encounter with Germany. The Germans secured their spot in the next round with a 3-1 (25-22, 16-25, 25-23, 25-20) victory over the Czech Republic in the first of the two quarterfinals played in Katowice.

Semifinals - September 2:
Serbia v Germany at 17.30 local time
Russia v Belgium at 20.30 local time

Finals - September 3:
Bronze medal match at 17.30
Gold medal match at 20.30
