The second set began close until Portugal jumped ahead to 12-8. The visitors built on their lead, going 20-13 and 24-14 up before sealing the set with an eight-point advantage.

In the third act Portugal managed to build an early lead once again. At one point they had a nine-point gap, 16-7.
