Dominican Writers Association recognizes Development Centre

Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, June 15, 2017 – The Dominican Sports Writers Association presented a plaque of recognition to the NORCECA/FIVB Regional Development Volleyball Centre in the Dominican Republic as part of its annual gala of awards.

The award lauds the work of the centre as the most outstanding sport educational institution in the country and an example in the organisation of volleyball at national and international levels.

Ramon Cuello, president of the association said: “It constitutes an honour to recognise the work done by this Development Centre which is celebrating 20 years after being founded by the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) and NORCECA Confederation.”

Nelson Ramirez, director of the centre, expressed his gratitude for the award. “For these 20 years we have made a big effort to achieve the projected objectives providing education and resources to the volleyball family and the sport in general.”

The Development Centre was founded in 1997 and 5,000 people have received training in the areas of sport and physical education.
