Final four revealed in Asian Women’s Club Championship

 
Tianjin Bohai Bank of China secured a final four spot in the Asian Women's Club Volleyball Championship in Ust-Kamenogorsk, Kazakhstan
Ust-Kamenogorsk, Kazakhstan, May 29, 2017 – The SMM 2017 Asian Women’s Club Samruk Kazyna Volleyball Championship quarterfinals on Monday saw Japan’s Hisamitsu Seiyaku Springs, Thailand’s Supreme VC, China’s Tianjin Bohai Bank, and Kazakhstan’s Altay VC as the final four contenders for the title. 

Hisamitsu Seiyaku Springs were first to qualify, as they saw off Chinese Taipei’s Taiwan Power 3-1 (25-20, 15-25, 25-12, 25-19). Hikari Kato led all scorers, punching in 19 points. Yuka Imamura provided another 15 markers for the Kobe-based Japanese club. 

Supreme VC survived a 3-1 (25-20, 25-12, 18-25, 27-25) nail-biter against the Philippines’ Rebisco PSL Manila. The Thai club’s Fatou Diouck amassed a total of 28 points on attack, while Rebisco-PSL’s Alyja Santiago retaliated with 22 points. 

Tianjin Bohai Bank sailed into a straight-set (25-11, 25-20, 2511) victory over Iran’s Sarmayeh Bank. The Chinese squad outscored their opponents’ attacks, as they converted 44 points against Sarmayeh Bank’s 26. Chen Liyi and Wang Jiamin scored 18 points each.

Hosts Altay VC outpowered Vietnam’s Vietin Bank 3-0 (25-23, 25-18, 25-14) by imposing a powerful frontline. The team collected 20 points off blocks and added five service aces to the tally. Sana Anarkulova, Kristina Aniknova, Olga Karppova and Inna Matveyeva all contributed double-digit markers that delighted the home crowd. 

The competition continues on Tuesday, May 30, with the semifinal phase at the Boris Alexandrov Sports Palace. 

Playing for the 5th to 8th semifinals slots are the Rebisco-PSL and Sarmayeh Bank at 11:30 local time; followed by Taiwan Power and Vietin Bank at 14:00. 

The first semifinal encounter between Supreme VC and Tianjin Bohai Bank will start at 16:30. The main event will feature the second semifinal between Altay VC and Hisamitsu Seiyaku Springs at 19:00.
