Under the artificial lights of Jaime Zapata, the Brazilians worked hard in their game. The score remained very close in the first set, but an ace twisted the plot in Brazil's favour as they scored their 19th point - the set also ended with an ace at 22-20.

In the second set Brazil demonstrated greater accuracy. "We pressed and played a great game," said Ana Patricia. "We are very happy for the title and very grateful to the people of Chaco for the tournament they organized."

Rebecca added: "Our defense blocking system worked very well in the match, and we were able to celebrate victory."

Georgina Klug commented: "We fell a little in the second set, but we paid dearly for losing the first. We are grateful to the people, the organisation and all those who made this tournament possible."

Paraguay celebrated winning bronze. "I am very excited about the result we achieved. We played very well and it is our first season with good results. We will continue to work on the World Cup," said Erika Mongelos.
