Kenyan men, Rwandan women top CAVB qualifier

 
The Kenyan men's team were unbeaten in the qualifier
Kampala, Uganda, May 2, 2017 – The beach volleyball teams of Rwanda (women) and Kenya (men) captured the gold medals at the 2017 CAVB Beach Volleyball Cup qualifiers in Zone 5.

In the women's section, Rwanda claimed three victories: against Uganda 2-0 (21-16, 21-11), Kenya 2-0 (21-11, 21-14) and Sudan 2-0 (21-8, 21-7). Uganda came second with a 2-1 win-loss ratio, Kenya (1-2) third and Sudan (0-3) fourth.

In the men's category, Kenya won all three matches: against Sudan 2-0 (21-13, 21-19), Uganda 2-0 (21-15, 21-15) and Rwanda 2-0 (21-17, 26-24). Rwanda came second with a 2-1 record, Uganda (1-2) came third and Sudan (0-3) fourth.

The four teams in each gender had already booked their tickets to the 2017 CAVB Beach Volleyball Cup finals, which will also be the qualification tournament for four teams to go to the World Championship.
