Brazil Superliga name best players following end of championship

Tassia was named top libero and best in reception
Lausanne, Switzerland, April 26, 2017 – The women’s Brazilian Superliga ended with a thrilling five-set victory by Volei Nestle over Rexona-Sesc on April 23. While the result meant that both teams will travel to Kobe, Japan, for the FIVB Club World Championship next month, it did not guarantee that the Superliga’s best players came from the two finalists.

The best players in the Superliga – announced by the Brazilian Volleyball Confederation – were determined on a statistical basis and included both Brazilian and foreign players.

The Superliga’s best team consisted of: setter Macris from Terracap/ BRB/ Brasília Volei; American opposite Destinee Hooker from Camponesa/ Minas; middle blockers Mara from Belo Horizonte and Roberta from the candango group; and wing spikers Tandara from Volei Nestle and Alix of Dentil/ Praia Clube. Uberlandia’s Tassia was the top libero.

As the selections were based on numbers, it means Macris was the best setter and Hooker the most efficient in attack. Mara was the top blocker, followed by Roberta. Tandara was the best server and second in attack, while American Alix was third in the attack stats. Libero Tassia was first in reception and third in defence.
