Pardon and Dykstra score two wins on day one in Grand Cayman

 
USA's Lara Dykstra enjoyed the opening day in Grand Cayman
Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands, April 21, 2017 – The USA-B team of Jace Pardon and Lara Dykstra enjoyed two victories on the opening day of the Cayman Islands Beach Volleyball Tournament at the Seven Mile temporary complex.

The duo of Pardon and Dykstra first defeated Canada’s Jamie Broder and Caleigh Whitaker 2-0 (21-18, 21-15) and completed their day with an overwhelming 2-0 (21-16, 21-6) victory over Marisa Harrison and Stefania Gandolfi of Cayman Islands-A.

Cuba’s Lidiannis Echeverría and Leila Martinez, winners of the first tournament of the year in La Paz, Mexico, won their only match of Friday with a crushing 2-0 (21-9, 21-4) win against Trinidad and Tobago’s La Teisha Joseph and Apphia Glasgow.

Defending champions Betsi Flint and Kelley Larsen of United States-A came up with 2-0 (21-15, 21-9) victory against Charlotte Sider and Caleigh Cruickshank of Canada-B.

In the men’s competition Guatemala’s Andy Leonardo and Luis Garcia survived two encounters of three sets each as one of the three teams who scored a pair of victories.
 
Leonardo and Garcia who reached the quarterfinals two weeks ago in La Paz, Mexico, outplayed St Clair Hodge and Kemoroy Percival of St Kitts and Nevis 2-1 (19-21, 21-15, 15-5) and Orlando Irizarry and Juan Ribas of Puerto Rico 2-1 (21-15, 15-21, 15-9) in Pool C.
 

In Pool A, Cubans Karell Pena and Daisel Quesada defeated Maverick Hatch and Garrett May of Canada-B 2-0 (21-16, 21-19) and Marlon Phillip and Daneil Williams of Trinidad and Tobago 2-0 (21-14, 21-12).
 
In Pool B, Mark Burik and William Kolinske of United States-A won 2-0 (21-17, 21-12) over Aaron Nusbaum and Ryan Vandeburg of Canada-A and 2-0 (21-11, 21-15) over compatriots Jon Mesko and Skylar del Sol of United States-B.

The tournament is the second leg of the 2017 NORCECA Circuit. Six more tournaments follow with the next taking place in Oho Rios from June 22-26.
