Horseed win championship in Somalia

 
Horseed celebrated their victory this weekend
Mogadishu, Somalia, April 18, 2017 - The Somali Volleyball Federation successfully organised the country’s 30th men’s championship with Somali military team Horseed winning the final match over the weekend.

Horseed, who were favourites going into the event, defeated Dekedaha 3-1 at the Wiish stadium. The match gathered a big crowd, including Ministry of Sports and Youth, Somali National Olympic Committee executive committee members and other distinguished Somali Sports personalities.

"Volleyball is now growing here in Somalia and we are planning to participate in the near future in Zone 5 beach volleyball competitions,"
said Somali Volleyball  Federation Secretary General Mohamed Abukar Hirei. "I confirm to the Somali people that we will also never miss any international or continental meetings," Mr Hirei told the media.

Somali Volleyball Federation President Abdulkader Omar Abukar thanked the President of the African Volleyball Confederation (CAVB) Dr. Amr Elwani who he said was always committed to helping the promotion of volleyball in Somalia.

"I also would like to thank CAVB Director Mrs. Howda Mondy who assisted in the revival of Somalia’s influence in Africa and as well as the Zone 5 area,” President Abukar noted during the closing ceremony.
