Semifinals set in African Club Championship

Monastir, Tunisia, April 13, 2017- Two Egyptian sides of defending champions Ahly and of Shams, hosts CF Carthage of Tunisia and Kenya Prisons all booked their tickets to the semifinals of the 2017 Women's African Club Championship following their victories in Thursday's quarterfinals.

CF Carthage will face Kenya Prisons, while Ahly play their Egyptian arch rivals Shams in the semifinals of the competition on Friday, while Tunisia's Sfaxien meet Kenya Pipeline and Injis of Cameroon line up against Algeria's GSP in the 5 to 8 bracket.



In the most exciting match of the day Kenya Prisons fought for more than two hours to outclass their neighbours Kenya Pipeline in a grueling five-setter 3-2 (13-25, 28-26, 25-19, 23-25 15-13).

CF Carthage did their utmost to cruise past Sfaxien in all-Tunisian clash 3-1 (27-25, 25-15, 23-25, 25-23).



Eight-time champions Ahly defeated 2014 winners GSP 3-0 (25-20, 26-24, 25-10), while Shams found it easy to surpass Injis 3-0 (25-12, 25-19, 25-16).

In the playoffs for positions 9 to 16 Uganda's Ndejje, Cameroon's FAP, Tunisia's Marsa and Rwanda Army won their corresponding matches against ARSU of the Seychelles, Asec of Cote d'Ivoire, Bafia of Cameroon and Bejaia of Algeria respectively. The winners will play for positions 9 to 12, while the losers will fight for 13 to 16.
