Pipeline, Shams, Carthage, Ahly double their wins in African Club Championship

Kenya Prisons celebrate rebound win that keeps them on track at the African Women's Club Championship in Tunisia.
Lausanne, Switzerland, April 8, 2017 - Defending champions Al Ahly of Cairo, Kenya Pipeline, Shams of Egypt and hosts Carthage of Tunisia all stepped closer to the next round of the 2017 African Women's Club Championship in the city of Monastir when they all scored their second wins on Saturday in the competition and remained undefeated after two matches.

Pipeline, seven-time African champions, convincingly shut out Sonatrach Algiers (formerly GS Petroliers) 3-0 (26-24, 25-23, 25-16) to take a clear lead in Pool C.

But in a show of power record eight-time champions Al Ahly obliterated Zimbabwe University 3-0 (25-8, 25-7, 25-16), remaining on track at the head of Pool B, heading for a repeat of last year's success.

Also in Pool B, Kenya Prisons rebounded after their opening match defeat to the defending champions and beat Marsa of Tunisia 3-0 (25-12, 25-15, 26-24).

Meanwhile, last year's runners-up Club Feminine de Carthage handed INJS Yaounde their first defeat 3-0 (25-11, 25-16, 25-22), while they themselves remained alone at the top of Pool A.

And Shams destroyed Anse Royale (ARSU) of the Seychelles 3-0 (25-8, 25-19, 25-13), leaving the Indian Ocean side winless in Pool D.

Pool play continues on Sunday with five more matches.
