Coach Rizola back in action with a bang

Lausanne, Switzerland, April 4, 2017 - After five years without hands on coaching with a team, Brazilian Antonio Rizola returned with a bang last weekend, when he led Colombia to a historic win in the final of the Girls' U18 Pan American Cup in Havana and a ticket to the 2017 FIVB Girls' U18 World Championship.

A former member of the FIVB Coaching Commission and an FIVB Level I and Level II Coaches Course Director, Rizola took charge of Colombia's female national teams late last year, tasked with leading the senior team towards the 2018 FIVB Women's World Championship and the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

"We know the difficulties this involves and that the results will not come without a lot of work, effort and dedication," were some of Rizola's first comments upon signing on with the Colombian Volleyball Federation last January.

Rizola had previously in his career worked for Brazil Superleague clubs, as well as abroad in Italy. He has also worked for the Brazilian Volleyball Confederation with all age-group level female sides. He was named 'Coach of the Year' in Brazil in 2001.
