Krygyzstan beat Turkmenistan for Asian Central Zone Championship title

Kyrgyzstan won the 3rd Asian Central Zone Senior Men’s Volleyball Championship at Male City, Maldives on March 30
Male City, Maldives, April 1, 2107 – Kyrgyzstan defeated Turkmenistan 3-1 (20-25, 25-21, 25-19, 25-22) in the final of the 3rd Asian Central Zone Senior Men’s Volleyball Championship at the Youth Centre Indoor Hall on Thursday, March 30.

Turkmenistan had an undefeated record coming into the final, with victories over Nepal, Maldives and Kyrgyzstan in the single round-robin preliminary round. The titlists had to overcome Nepal in the semifinal to set-up a final clash with the undefeated Turkmenistan side.

Kyrgyzstan had a slow start and lost the opening set 25-20. They fought hard and bounced back in the second frame 25-21. They played with great consistency that gave them control to secure the next two sets at 25-19 and 25-22.

Nepal finished in third place, while hosts Maldives finished last in the four-nation tournament. Nepal’s bronze medal victory was an improvement of last year’s match-up against Maldives in Bangladesh, where the latter claimed the bronze medal.
