PRESS RELEASE

South America focuses on commitment at 72nd CSV Congress

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, April 1, 2017 - With a touch of the ball simulating a service, President Rafael Lloreda started the 72nd Congress of South American Volleyball Confederation (CSV) held in Mangaratiba, Rio de Janeiro, on Saturday.

Presidents of the eleven National Federations participated actively in the interaction proposed by the members of the Executive Committee, returning to start the most important event of the institutional calendar.

Work began with the Activities Report presented by President Lloreda, followed by a video of the main moments of the previous Congress. "We are in a difficult time to restructure the financial planning of FIVB funds but we will continue to work very seriously to achieve the same result that has been presented in recent years. Our motto is: The name of the game is commitment," emphasized the president.

The Congress brought together members of the South American volleyball family for a period of two days and was preceded by meetings of the Sports Organisation, Arbitration, Beach Volleyball, Medical and Legal Commissions. Only English Guyana was not present. In previous sessions, participants had the opportunity to discuss important issues, while getting updated on FIVB changes.

Representatives of 11 countries in South America (Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Ligue de Guayana, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela) unanimously approved the balance sheet for the year ended on December 31, 2016 and the budget for 2017 presented by Julio Perez, president of the Accounts Commission, and Bruno Zubiarreta.

Among the various items on the schedule are the reports of the Sports Organisation Commissions by its president Roberto Escobar; of Arbitration by Willy Paredes and Elzir Martins; Legal by the general secretariat of the CSV Renata Blauth; Marketing by Juan Gutierrez; Beach Volleyball by CSV Vice President Marco Tullio Teixeira; and finally the Press Report by Marcia Loureiro.

The resolutions of the Executive Committee were celebrated by the 11 presidents present among the 12 Federations affiliated to the CSV and some of the dates and venues of the 2016 calendar were defined on indoor and beach.
