Rishel leads Altos to Korean Championship crown

 
The Altos have won three titles since being founded in 2011
 Hwaseong, Korea, March 30, 2017 – The IBK Industrial Bank Altos beat the Heungkuk Life Pink Spiders 3-1 (26-24, 25-20, 18-25, 25-18) on Thursday to win the 2016-17 Korea Women’s Volleyball Championship Finals.

The Altos won the Finals 3-1, their third overall crown. The matches were held from March 24 to 30 in Incheon (the home of the Pink Spiders) and Hwaseong (the base of the Altos). 

IBK’s Madison Rishel was the top scorer of the final match with 36 points, while Canada’s Tabitha Love had 20 for the Pink Spiders.

Rishel was named MVP after leading her team throughout the Finals. She scored 28 points in the first match, 33 in the second match and 42 in the third match.

The Altos also feature national team players Kim Sa-Nee, Kim Hee-Jin and Nam Jie-Youn.

In the first match of the Finals on March 24, the Pink Spiders edged the Altos 3-2 (25-13, 20-25, 25-22, 13-25, 15-13) in Incheon.

The second match in Incheon on March 26 saw the Altos level the Finals with a tight 3-1 (16-25, 34-32, 25-23, 25-23) victory.

The third match in Hwaseong on March 28 was even closer as the Altos won in five sets (21-25, 25-20, 24-26, 25-21, 15-8) to go 2-1 up in the Finals.

The Altos were only founded in 2011 but have now won the title three times (2013-14, 2014-15, 2016-17).
