Alvaro (left) and Saymon are celebrating after winning the Brazil Tour title
Lausanne, Switzerland, March 19, 2017 – Alvaro Filho and Saymon Santos wrapped up the Brazil Beach Volleyball Tour title when they won silver at the Aracaju tournament on Atalaia Beach on Sunday.

They lost to 2-1 (14-21, 21-19, 15-13) to Pedro Solberg and Gustavo ‘Guto’ Carvalhaes, but by then they knew they had won the Tour title having claimed 160 points on offer from competing in the group stage.

Larissa Franca and Talita Antunes, who won the women’s Tour title at the previous tournament, added another gold to the four they had already claimed when they defeated Agatha Bednarczuk and Eduarda Santos Lisboa 2-0 (21-16, 21-17).

Alvaro and Saymon had already won three of the seven Tour golds and also claimed three silver and one bronze from the other stops. They and Larissa and Talita also topped the podium at the Fort Lauderdale Major Series in February which marked the start of the 2017 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour.

Rio 2016 Olympic champions Alison Cerutti and Bruno Schmidt won bronze when they defeated Evandro Goncalves and Andre Stein 2-1 (15-21, 22-20, 12-15).

Barbara Seixas and Fernanda Berti showed that they are likely to be challenging for medals when the World Tour returns with the Rio de Janeiro Grand Slam in May by beating Juliana Felisberta and Carol Solberg 2-0 (24-22, 25-23).

Aracaju was the eight stop on the Brazil Tour and comes after tournaments in Campo Grande, Brasília, Uberlandia, Curitiba, Sao Jose, Joao Pessoa and Maceio. The next stop is in Vitoria from April 7-9 before the Tour concludes with the Super Praia that takes place in Niteroi later in April.
