Men's championship celebrates 30th edition in Somalia

 
Six teams are set to compete in the event in Mogadishu
Mogadishu, Somalia, March 10, 2017 - The 30th edition of the country's men's championship got underway in Mogadishu over the weekend, organised by the Volleyball Federation of Somalia.

The competition gathers six division ‘A’ teams, according to Somali Volleyball federation Secretary General Mohamed Abubakar Hirei, who addressed spectators at the opening ceremony on Thursday.

"On behalf of the Somali Volleyball Federation, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the African Volleyball Confederation (CAVB) for its support and assistance to Somalia,” he said, adding that the CAVB had donated volleyballs.

Horsed, a team representing the Somali military, defeated its Dekeda  rivals 3-1 in the opening match. Horsed are the defending champions.
