Haak continues spectacular run in France

Isabelle Haak in action in the French League with Beziers against the triple block of Evreux.
Lausanne, Switzerland, March 14, 2017 - Isabelle Haak made a big impression over the weekend, when she scored an astonishing 46 points (3 aces, 2 blocks and 41/93 for 44 per cent in attack) in the the French Cup final - even though her incredible performance was just not quite enough to bring the title to her club of Beziers, who lost to Pays d'Aix Venelles in five sets.

"It was hard. I am very sad," said Haak, who is a French-Swedish binational. "We started well in the first set but then it became difficult. Against a team like Aix Venelles, you have to stick to the tactics every time you go on the attack. And even if I jump a hundred times a game, I have to stay strong both mentally and physically."

The 17-year-old, who made her debut with Sweden's National Team at the age of 14, is also currently the top scorer of the French League with 466 points (385 kills, 45 blocks and 36 aces) in 19 matches. That's almost a hundred points more than the second best scorer in the league. She also tops the best servers table and ranks sixth amongst the best blockers.

Her best scoring performances this season in the French League has been 33 points in Beziers' 3-1 home win over Le Cannet.

She remains the best scorer on average of the European CEV Cup with 6.4 points per set, despite Beziers having been knocked out in the Round of 16.

Haak, who stands 1.94m tall, moved to Beziers this season, after winning two championship titles at home with Engelholms in Sweden. She was MVP of the Swedish championship in 2016, after picking up the 'Player of the Year' and 'Rookie of the Year' awards in 2015.
