Argentina and Brazil take titles at Rosario tournament
In the women's final, Gallay/ Klug overcame Venezuelans Norisbeth Agudo and Gabriela Brito 2-0 (21-17, 21-15) in 39 minutes. The Argentines grew stronger throughout the tournament after a three-set loss in their first match.
"We are happy to have won the title at home before our people in a tournament that is so important for beach volleyball in Argentina and on the continent,” Klug said. “We went from a low to a high in the tournament and we felt very confident in the final.”
In the semifinals, the Argentines eliminated Brazil duo Angela and Val 2-0 (21-11, 21-16) much to the delight of the home crowd. The Venezuelans reached the final by beating Paraguayans Valiente/ Mongelos 2-0 (21-13, 21-12). Angela/ Val took the bronze medal with a 2-0 (21-11, 21-16) win over the Paraguayan pair.

Cousins Marco and Esteban Grimalt of Chile had to settle for silver for the third consecutive tournament, but they fought hard before losing 2-0 (28-26, 21-16) to Oscar and Hevaldo.
The Brazilian champions eliminated home team Azaad/ Capogrosso in the semifinals in an intense three sets (22-20, 15-21, 15-11), while the Chileans overcame Venezuela’s Charly/ Golindano 2-0 (21-18, 21-13).
For third place, Argentina celebrated with a 2-0 (21-14, 21-17) win over the Venezuelan duo.
The awards ceremony was attended by Vice President of the South American Volleyball Confederation Marco Tullio Teixeira, the President of the Argentine Volleyball Federation (FeVA) Juan Antonio Gutiérrez, and FeVA Vice President and President of the Santa Fe Volleyball Federation Fabian Bochatay.
