Rosario ready to host third stop on South American Beach Tour
The press conference was held in Rosario City Hall. Guests included City Mayor Monica Fein, National High Performance Sport Under-Secretary Orlando Moccagatta, Province Sport Development Secretary Pablo Catan. City Hall Recreation and Sport Under-Secretary Adrian Ghiglione, Argentine Volleyball Federation Vice-President Fabian Bochatay and federation representatives, beach volleyball players and members of the press.
Fein said she was "more than enthusiastic" about the organisation of the event. The City Mayor emphasised that "to carry out these kind of events in Rosario speaks of a background of sport and the engagement of all the city, not only of the city, province and national governments supporting us but also the institutions." She also hoped the event would "keep making stronger the youngest, boosting them to add themselves to sport activities, not only as recreation but to improve and develop their character helping them to understand that it is very important to have clear rules in their lives, such as high performance".
Moccagatta said Rosario was ideal as a venue: "It is a city that inspires sport, a continuous place that develops athletes, coaches and knowledge related to sport. It is not by chance that events like these ones take place in a city with high sport soul like Rosario has."
FeVA Vice-President Fabian Cochatay pointed out at the presentation event that Rosario has been "en emblematic place for volleyball and mainly for beach volleyball." La Florida Resort is a base for the national team.
The double gender Rosario Grand Slam will be the third stop on the South American Beach Volleyball Tour and will feature the best pairs from Brazil, Uruguay, Chile, Colombia, Paraguay, Bolivia, Peru and Argentina. DeporTV will provide live coverage of the event.
