Cairo, Egypt, January 8, 2017 – The African Volleyball Confederation (CAVB) has announced that the Men’s African Club Championship will run from March 17 to 27.

The CAVB had previously announced that the tournament would be held in the Tunisian capital Tunis.

The competition is open to the league champions of the affiliated national federations as well as the local cup champions.

The CAVB has also announced a deadline of February 28, 2017, for teams to confirm their participation.

The competition attracted 24 teams in the previous two editions in Sousse (2015) and Cairo (2016).

Among the top African teams expected to take part in the event are three Egyptian teams: defending champions El Geish; record title holders Al Ahly (11 titles); and Zamalek (five titles).

The local favourites are likely to be Esperance (four titles), Sfax (six) and Etoile du Sahel (two).
