Iver Horrem takes on new role in Norwegian volleyball
Oslo, Norway, January 9, 2016 – Norway’s Iver Horrem announced his retirement after a 16-year career in beach volleyball, which included participation in 183 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour events, six FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships, one Olympic Games and 13 European Championships.
However, Akura-born Horrem is not yet totally done with volleyball, as he will now work to achieve top results in Norwegian volleyball as the newly hired marketing director of the Norwegian Volleyball Federation (NVBF).
“I am happy for the chance to be part of the continuing development of Norwegian volleyball, a sport I am strongly committed to and which my heart beats harder for.” Horrem said. “I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone that has supported me as a player. I hope I have given you more moments of joy than sorrow.”

“I am very happy that Iver is part of our team,” said Norwegian federation president Eirik Sordahl. “With his extensive experience and knowledge, his vast network and his winning personality, the NVBF has acquired a strong marketer of Norwegian volleyball.”
“Iver has already shown what he is capable of and has several plans for NVBF’s marketing and communication work,” secretary general Kristian Gjerstadberget added. “He also has good knowledge about and understanding of Norwegian athletics, NVBF and working in an organisation. We look forward to having Iver join us at Ulleval and contributing to Norwegian volleyball’s future.”
