Afghanistan Volleyball Federation elects new president Bahauddin Jelani

Kabul, Afghanistan, November 3, 2016 - Bahauddin Jelani was elected the new president of the Afghanistan National Volleyball Federation  (ANVF) for the next four years 2016-2020 following the federation's Elective General Assembly at Isteqlal Hotel in Kabul on November 3.

Acting ANVF President Dr. Mohammad Yonus Popalzay and Mr Jelani, who used to be a national team player, were the only two candidates standing for election.

Mr Jelani said: “This is my honour. I am very proud to be a member of the sport community, especially a member of the Afghanistan National Volleyball Federation. I will work hard to develop volleyball throughout the country.”

Mr. Jelani thanked Dr. Yonus for his remarkable work during his period as the federation president. Dr. Yonus expressed his sincere thanks to the board members who worked with him and called on
the meeting attendants to be united and put all their efforts into the development of volleyball under the ANVF.

"I would like to congratulate Mr Jelani for being elected the new ANVF President and I also would like to thank FIVB President Dr. Ary S. Graça F°, AVC President Dr. Saleh A. Bin Nasser and AVC Executive Vice President Mr Essa Hamza for their kind support and for the guidance they have provided over the years. Last but not least, I strongly believe Mr Jelani will show his capability to develop volleyball in Afghanistan.”
