Egypt dominate in African Women's U23 Championship, win title

 
Egypt took the African Women's U23 Championship title, as they won all their matches in the tournament
Nairobi, Kenya, October 27, 2016 – The Egypt women’s national team claimed the 2016 U23 African Nations Championship title after they defeated Botswana in straight sets (25-16, 25-10, 25-19) in the final at Kasarani Sports Hall on Thursday.

The victory placed Egypt in the first position with a 4-0 win record in the five-nation tournament, while Kenya claimed silver after they beat Rwanda 3-1 (25-23, 23-25, 25-22, 25-19) in the silver and bronze medal deciders. Kenya improved their win-loss card to 3-1, while Rwanda finished third with a 2-2 record.

As a result, Egypt and Kenya qualify for the 2017 edition of the FIVB Volleyball U23 Women's World Championship in Slovenia.

Botswana ended up in fourth place with a one win and three losses, while Senegal finished last with a 0-4 win-loss record.

Egyptian middle blocker Aya Ahmed took the Most Valuable Player award for playing a key role in their match victories.
