Club World Championship bronze medallists Volero Zürich claim 11th Swiss Cup title

Volero Zürich celebrate winning the 2016 Swiss Cup
Fribourg, Switzerland, April 2, 2015 - Last year's FIVB Volleyball Women's Club World Championship bronze medallists and multiple Swiss champions Volero Zürich defeated TSV Düdingen 3-0 (25-17, 25-15, 25-20) to claim their 11th Swiss Cup title in twelve years on Saturday.

3,000 thrilled spectators packed the St. Léonard venue in Fribourg, inspiring the titleholders to unveil some of their best volleyball. After a slow start, Volero claimed the first set 25-17. Coach Avital Selinger's team, led by Russian-born middle blocker Ekaterina Orlova, then stepped up the pressure to win the second set 25-15. Volero top scorer Laura Unternährer helped her team to victory in the third set 25-20, despite Düdingen's efforts to extend the match.

The Volero fans in Fribourg celebrated another victory for their team, who now prepare to take on Sm' Aesch Pfeffingen in the Swiss Playoffs Final. They will aim to complete their 11th double in 12 years. The championship series begins on Wednesday, April 13 in Aesch.
