VIDEO: President Graça looks back at World Championships success

President Graça: "The competition has been good for everybody."
Lausanne, Switzerland, July 10, 2015 - Looking back at a record-breaking FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships The Netherlands 2015, FIVB President Dr. Ary S. Graça F° said the International Volleyball Federation's focus on innovation and modernisation had produced a tournament to be proud of.

Over 110,000 fans passed through the gates at the venues in The Hague, Amsterdam, Apeldoorn and Rotterdam during the World Championships in the Netherlands, which took place in the four Dutch cities from June 26 through to July 5, 2015. 95,000 local children participated in side events related to the tournament and 2,355 beach volleyball players successfully smashed the world record for the largest number of people playing volleyball in one location at one time.

The Hague turned orange for Reinder Nummerdor and Christian Varenhorst on the day of the men's final, but it was the green and gold of Brazil that eventually came out on top as Alison Cerutti and Bruno Oscar Schmidt sealed a thrilling win over the home heroes.

In the women's competition, Barbara Seixas and Agatha Bednarczuk carved their name into FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championship folklore after sealing the 2015 title with a victory over fellow Brazilians Taiana Lima and Fernanda Alves.
