Former Olympic & world champ to play in Cayman Islands

American Todd Rogers will be one of the main attractions at the Cayman Islands Beach Volleyball Tournament next week

Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands, March 15, 2013 – USA's Todd Rogers, one of the most successful beach volleyball players of all-time, will compete in the Cayman Islands Tournament, the first stage of the 2013 NORCECA Circuit from March 22 to 24.

Rogers, who teamed up with Phil Dalhausser to claim the gold medal at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games and the 2007 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships in Gstaad, Switzerland, will this time partner Ryan Doherty.

Rogers and Dalhausser also took home the bronze medal at the 2009 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championship in Stavanger, Norway.

The duo won the title on the AVP Circuit for five consecutive years starting in 2007 and also established a record for the most single victories in a season for the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour in 2010 when they finished as the top ranked team in the world.

The 39-year-old Rogers, nicknamed “The Professor”, and Dallhausser failed to defend their gold medal at the London 2012 Olympic Games and the pair were eliminated in the round of 16.

During his career, Rogers won the awards as the FIVB World Tour's best defensive player three years in a row (2006-2008) and also was selected as best setter in 2005 and most inspirational player in 2008.
