Local course for sports teachers organised in Tanzania

These teachers in Rukwa join others in provinces including Manyara Arusha, Tanga, Zanzibar, Dodoma, Morogoro and Mwanza as course graduates
Sumbawanga, Tanzania, December 3, 2012 – The Tanzania Volleyball Association (TAVA) conducted a local course for physical education teachers in Rukwa Region, Sumbawanga, starting on Monday, November 26 and concluding on Friday, November 30.

The course was designed under the Framework of the TAVA Development Plan, which aims to build a nationwide base of 600 qualified volleyball teachers in Tanzania’s schools.

The programme is supported by CAVB and the FIVB. It has already been implemented in over 10 of the country’s regions.

At the end of every course, 50 volleyballs and five nets are freely distributed to local schools so that they can continue practicing and teaching the sport to their students. TAVA expects the 600 teachers to have more than 12,000 pupils playing volleyball nationwide at the end of the programme.

This is an important moment of opportunity for TAVA, as school sports are finally getting a chance to flourish in Tanzania.
