Portugal prepare to host World League eight-time winners Italy

Juan Diaz, head coach of Portugal, unveiled his 12-man lineup to take on World League super powers Italy, eight-time winners of the competition, on Thursday in what will be two testing match-ups on Saturday 17:00 GMT and Sunday 14:00 GMT in Matosinhos. After an early morning training session most of Portugal's squad were given a rest on Thursday afternoon as they search for only their second victory of the Intercontinental Rounds this weekend. Italy is in second place, with five wins, behind Brazil only on Set Ratio difference. Meanwhile, Italian wing spiker Matej Cernic has recuperated from his injury, which had ruled him out of Italy's last three games and is part of Gian Paolo Montali's squad of 12 players to take on Portugal. Portugal: Nuno Pinheiro, Adriano Paço, Ubirajara Pereira, Eurico Peixoto, André Lopes, Hugo Ribeiro, João Malveiro, Fábio Milhazes, João José, Roberto Reis, Hugo Gaspar, Jorge Alves.
