Luxembourg, March 2, 2005 - In the first home match of the final playoff round of the Men's Indesit European Champions' League 2004/05, where six teams are battling for the three spots in the Final Four next to the organising team Iraklis THESSALONIKI (GRE), French TOURS VB had to surrender to compatriots PARIS Volley 1:3.
The guests from the French capital gained a swift lead in the first set (8-5, 16-13), profiting from several unforced errors by TOURS. Not being able to catch up anymore the hosts had to accept the first set loss (18-25). The second set saw a similar scenario with PARIS obtaining a head start (8-5, 16-11). This time, however, TOURS with Vladimir Nikolov and Hichem Guemmadi came back to 21-23, but still lost the set (22-25) following two beautiful kills by Noureddine Hfaiedh.
With their back to the wall the home team demonstrated their fighting spirit, advancing steadily (8-4, 16-9) with goods serves by Hichem Guemmadi and Loic De Kergret and effective digs by Hubert Henno and Slobodan Boskan. Winning the third set 25-14 it seemed as if TOURS found their way back into the match with the 3'100 spectators expecting a significant turn. But PARIS continued strong. Following Jiri Novak's successful serving (8-3) and effective blocking by Oliver Kieffer and Murray Grapentine (16-13) the guests achieved the significant breaks in order to book the fourth set (25-1
