September 27, 2004 - Hosts Chile made the perfect start in the South-American men's junior Volleyball Championship defeating Bolivia in straight sets 25-22, 25-21, 25-17 on Monday.
The result took the hosts to the top of Group A where they are joined with Paraguay, who upset Peru 3-1 (25-22, 25-16, 23-25, 25-22).
In the opening round of Group B, Argentina showed all their power against Equador, who couldn't beat their opponents blocking, winning 25-17, 25-14, 25-20; A result which did nothing but confirm the level of the Argentineans and place them as strong candidates for the title.
The other Group B match saw Colombia beat Uruguay easily 25-12, 25-18, 25-12.
The second round of the South American Tournament on Wednesday will see the current champions Brazil meet Bolivia in Group A while Venezuela take on Ecuador, followed by Argentina against Uruguay and Chile against Peru.
