May 03, 2004 - The Brazilian girl's Under-15 team enjoyed the perfect start to their South American Championship title defense with opening victories over Colombia and Uruguay respectively. The Championships are being hosted in Guayaquil, Ecuador and will run until May 04. The top three teams to emerge from the tournament will automatically qualify for the World Championships to be held in Germany.
In what turned out to be a one-sided affair, the Colombian under-15s failed to match their Brazilian counterparts for speed and technique and they eventually succumbed to a three sets to nil loss. Brazil marched on to their second victory with another 3-0 triumph, this time over Uruguay in a match that took place at the University of Guayaquil.
In other contests at the South American Under-15 Championship, Peru beat Uruguay and Colombia, both by 3-0 while Venezuela downed Chile and Ecuador also by 3-0 in each match. The Argentinean Under-15s gained a 3-1 win over Chile.
